Aunt Sandy came to visit last week, and the babies loved seeing her! Aunt Sandy had a trip planned about a month ago but got sick and couldn't make it down. Finally, she was able to spend time here. Thanks for helping us out while you were here... it is greatly appreciated. Olive and Poppy miss you!
This past weekend, we drove to Maria and David's house so that the cousins (Poppy, Olive, and Shaefer) could hang out before baby Memphis arrives this month. It was the longest car ride that the girls have ever taken. It was a long two hours for them, but since Jill and I took turns sitting between them, they did OK! The first picture is Maria, David, and Shaefer, and the second picture is Shaefer showing Olive how to play with the exersaucer. Memphis is the one in my sister's belly.
I love this stage of development. Poppy and Olive are eating twice a day and are really understanding that they need to open their mouths to get the cereal in. It sounds simple to you and me, but it's an achievement for them! Poppy enjoyed it from day one, and Olive is starting to enjoy it now as seen in the pictures below. You'll even see that she wants my turkey meatballs!
As of last week, Olive and Poppy are 4 months old! This morning, we went to see the pediatrician for their 4 month check up. Olive is 12 pounds, 10 ounces, and 24.75 inches long, and Poppy is 13 pounds, 14 ounces, and 25.25 inches long! Since their last official weigh in, they have both gained 1 pound, 10 ounces. Ofter discussing solid foods with the doctor, we decided to give Poppy and Olive baby rice cereal twice a day starting tonight. Below is the video of their first solid food experience! I was rather excited about the prospect of starting this chapter, and I didn't take the time to find the best camera angle. So... it's not Oscar-worthy, but it does the trick. It is quite lengthy... about 5 and a half minutes. Enjoy!
