It Finally Arrived!

Baptism

This weekend, Poppy and Olive were baptized. It was a triple baptism; my nephew Memphis was also christened. We had about 100 people at the reception which was planned mainly by Jill. She worked so hard on the details of the Candyland theme that a big "Thank You" is deserved... So, thank you, Honey! You did a great job! There was a candy buffet, candy centerpieces, and giant candy decorations hanging from the ceiling.

Amongst the planning and all the craziness that comes with raising twins, Jill and I found time to do one more thing. We made Poppy and Olive's christening gowns. We learned how to knit a few years ago and decided to create heirlooms to be passed down to our grandchildren and beyond. We each made one. However, we didn't realize how much time we would need to make the dresses, and we finished them by the skin of our teeth... we had to pull an all-nighter the night before the baptism! We started the dresses in January, and we estimate that they each took about 100 hours of work. I hope you enjoy the pictures! I hope to post more as I receive them from others.

Big News

Ok, so my life has officially been altered beyond repair. Tonight, while innocently playing in the playroom, Poppy took her first steps! I'm excited and terrified at the possibilities. And, if she is anything like her cousin Shaefer, she will start running within days! I should have guessed that she'd walk soon since she has been playing with a Winnie the Pooh walker more and more this week. I blame Pooh. I will get video of Poppy walking as soon as I can, but for now, here is a video of her walking with Pooh.

Olive loves the walker, too!

Peek-A-Boo and Jumping Too

Olive and Poppy are really getting the hang of peek-a-boo. They could do it all day!

It's always fun in the Johnny Jump-Up!

Doctors, Fun, and Faces

At nine months old, measurements are...

Poppy: 28.75 in. long and 18 lbs. 10 oz.

Olive: 28 in. long and 17 lbs. 6 oz.

I was expecting them to be at least a pound heavier than what they weigh, but given that they have been sick 3 times so far this year, I'm not surprised. We actually had to take Poppy to the emergency room on Sunday due to a 105.1 fever! The conclusion-- a virus. They are almost better now except for runny noses. Grandmom Diane was here to help, thank goodness! She helped me take the girls to Costco, and while Poppy slept in her stroller, Olive sat in a cart for the first time!

We broke out a new toy. It's a car that turns into a walker. Poppy sat on it for a few minutes...

... then wanted off!

Olive was confused at first...

... but soon enjoyed herself!
